My Maiden

Blue skies,
Have you seen
My girl
Whom your color
Looks like
The color
Of her eyes?
I asked.
But the skies
Did not answer.
Though their eyes
Looked wider,
And bluer,
And smiled.
Rose garden,
Have you seen
My girl
Whom your roses
Look like
The roses
On her cheeks?
I asked.
But the garden
Did not answer.
Though the trees
Danced in
Delight
And smiled.
Grapevine,
Have you seen
My girl
Whom your wine
Tastes like
Her lips?
I asked.
But the vine
Did not answer.
Though the grapes
Flushed and felt
Intoxicated
With the compliment,
And smiled.
Nile River,
Have you seen
My girl
Whom your waves
Flow like
Her thick,
Long hair?
I asked.
But the River
Did not answer.
Though he laughed,
And then,
Gracefully flowed,
With pride.
Rose garden,
Grapevine,
River Nile,
Blue skies,
Have you seen
A maiden
More beautiful,
More elegant,
I asked.
But they all
Looked amazed.
On this earth?
They wondered,
And smiled.
