The Image

You smiled
Closed your wide brown eyes
I held you closely in my arms
Kissed your lips in delight.
Now
Every night I recall
The image
Of that moment and smile.

You laughed
Drew just a little closer
I took your delicate hand in mine
Held your eyes in rapture
Now
Every day I recall
The image
Of that moment and laugh.

You sighed
Blushed like a rose
When I held your waist in my arms
Swam in the lake of your eyes
Now every morning I wake
Look
But you are not around
Then again I close my eyes
Recall that moment
Sigh.

You wept
Covered your tears
When I knelt before you, reaching out
Offered you the ring of gold
Now every evening I lay
Ponder
But cannot find you
Then again I close my eyes
Recall that moment
Weep.

You smiled, you laughed
You sighed, you cried that night
When we kissed and touched
When we looked and parted
Now everyday and night
I smile, I laugh, I sigh and weep
When I lie and recall the image
Of that moment in delight.
